Resources related to Native American and Indigenous studies within the Harvard Library are available in the Indigenous Studies research guide and the Indigenous Languages research guide created by Julie Fiveash, the Librarian for American Indigenous Studies.

If you have more specific research questions or questions about Indigenous library materials in the Harvard Library, please contact Julie at jfiveash@fas.harvard.edu. You can also sign-up for their quarterly newsletter on Native information studies news: the Native Discussions Newsletter.

If you have a general Harvard Library question, please visit the Ask A Librarian page and chat with librarian or email or question.

Starting this Fall 2023, Tozzer Library will be providing two study carrels to anyone affiliated with HUNAP. The study carrels will be available to book in 4 hour increments and are housed in the bottom floor of Tozzer Library across from the elevator. Reserve a carrel at https://libcal.library.harvard.edu/reserve/hunap/carrels.

If you have questions about the carrels, feel free to contact Julie Fiveash or Tozzer Library about the space (tozzerlibrary@fas.harvard.edu).

Tozzer Library additionally houses the Indigenous Knowledge Collection. This collection strives to incorporate not just diverse Native voices within academic texts but diverse materials themselves, such as board games, comics, zines, and more.

The areas of focus within the Indigenous Knowledge Collection include:

Zines and zine making

Comics and graphic novels

2SLGBTQIA+ and Indigiqueer materials

Cooking and foodways

Indigenous board games

Indigenous language cultivation

This collection is located on the first floor of the Tozzer Library on the left as you enter the main entrance.

If you have collection material suggestions or questions, please contact Julie Fiveash.
