Sarah Martin
Sarah Martin (she/her) is the Associate University Archivist for Community Engagement at the Harvard University Archives (HUA) and project manager for the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe–Harvard Library partnership. In her current role, Sarah leads the planning and development of HUA’s community engagement programs and outreach initiatives—including exhibitions, presentations and tours, communications and social media, special research projects, and collaborations across the University and Harvard Library.
In her work, Sarah focuses on making archives more approachable so that new and historically underserved users feel welcomed, informed, and empowered to explore the HUA's collections. She is committed to surfacing underexplored narratives and working in partnership with communities to share their stories through inclusive, collaborative archival practices.
Sarah earned her MSLIS from Simmons University’s School of Library and Information Science and her BA in History and Political Philosophy from Trinity College (CT). Before joining Harvard, she taught at Simmons’ SLIS, worked at Boston University, MIT, and the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, and served in committee leadership roles with the Society of American Archivists.
